Clay County Senior Services provides services, programs, and resources to support seniors age 60 and over that reside in Clay County. We provide a broad range of services to promote physical, emotional, and intellectual wellness, such as transportation, home safety modifications, educational programs, and special discounts for exercise and enrichment through partnerships with other organizations. The Good Samaritan Center of Excelsior Springs, MO is an independent social service agency giving emergency assistance and advocacy to families and individuals in Excelsior Springs and the surrounding rural areas of Clay and Ray Counties, who were lacking or at risk of not having life’s basic necessities.The Center operates a food pantry and thrift store, and provides financial assistance to individuals in need. In addition, the Good Samaritan Center provides home repair services and senior advocacy to seniors living in ruralMClay County.

KC Lift and Elevator specializes in Accessibility products to help individuals with mobility challenges stay safely in the homes they love. In addition we offer lifting products that simply make life easier!   We install wheel chair lifts, stairlifts, ramps, overhead patient lifts and elevators.   We offer new or recycled product when  available,  buy back options and rental options.  

Northland Shepherd’s Center is a not-for-profit agency dedicated to “Improving the Quality of Life of Older Adults in the Northland." Over 400 volunteers provide services such as: transportation to doctor appointments, small handyman jobs, respite, daily call check, health & benefits check ups…just to name a few. NSC also provides enrichment opportunities like tours, exercise programs, caregiver and grief support groups and Adventures in Learning. The Platte County Senior Fund provides services and programs designed to support older adult independence and quality of life for Platte County residents age 60+.   Some services are free, some are a flat fee and some are income based.  Programs include transportation, in-home services, personal safety monitoring, home repair, water heater and furnace/air-conditioning inspections and repairs, wheelchair ramps, stair lifts, tub cut outs, and life enrichment.

Rebuilding  Together Kansas City is a nonprofit organization that provides home safety modifications for seniors and people living with disabilities in Clay  County.  The vision of our Safe at Home program is a “safe and healthy home for every person.”  Occupational and Physical Therapists conduct home safety assessments, and we utilize trained volunteers to complete our modifications.  These modifications might include installing: grab bars, handrails, bathroom assistive devices, wheelchair ramps, smoke detectors, and more.  Anyone interested in volunteering  or those needing home safety modifications,  contact Clay McQuerry, (816) 781-8985.

The YMCA of Greater Kansas City is an inclusive organization of men, women and children joined together by a shared commitment to strengthen communities through healthy living, social responsibility and youth development. The YMCA is committed to enriching the quality of family, spiritual, social, mental and physical well-being. Special programming aimed at enriching the quality of lives of our seniors is offered in a comfortable environment where seniors can drink coffee, interact and make new friends. We hold a monthly potluck on the 3rd Wednesday where seniors eat good food, socialize and play bingo! We offer many classes for active older adults including water fitness, water yoga, gentle yoga, chair yoga, and Silver Sneakers.
