Falls Prevention Hall of Fame - National Council on Aging
Our coalition and a member were recipients of the Falls Free© “Falls Prevention Certificate of Appreciation” and demonstrated significant impact in falls prevention in Missouri.
- With Funding from Clay County Senior Services, the local Senior Falls Prevention Coalition of Clay and Platte Counties partnered with the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC) School of Nursing and Health Studies for a research project. They assisted with recruitment of community-dwelling adults over age 65 that were not currently participating in any type of strength training Program. The paper titled “Skeletal Muscle Troponin as Novel Biomarker to Enhance the Assessment of the Impact of Strength Training on Fall Prevention in the Elderly” has been accepted for publication in Nursing Research*.
